The course covers advanced investment management topics in portfolio management and alternative investment assets. In the portfolio management topics, advanced topics including Roll's critique, empirical tests of the capital asset pricing model, investment strategies and asset allocation as well as endowment portfolios, pension funds and tax-deferred investment products will be discussed. In the alternative investments, the topics will include commercial and multi-family real estate investments, mortgages, and real estate investment trusts (REITS). Where possible, investment cases will be used to illustrate the application of some of the concepts to portfolio management. Prerequisites: BU673.
